V10 | Import Colours

 In KD Max, Tutorial, V10

Colour is an important aspect of getting a design to reflect reality. Thankfully, KD Max allows you to capture and use all the colours you can find.

Follow these steps to learn how to download and import colour swatches into KD Max drawings.

1.

To begin, find and download the .JPG of your desired material. This example is using Adriatic from Polytec. To download the image, simply right click on the swatch, select ‘Save Image as..’ and save it in a desired location.

2.

Locate the downloaded colour swatch and simply click, drag and drop the file onto a desired cabinet.

3.

To globally change all of the colours to match the desired colour, navigate to Edit > Material Editor

4.

From there, select the changed colour, confirm the colour map and move onto the apply tab.

5.

Select the “Apply the same material to current scene” option and left-click on another cabinet to see that all cabinets will be changed to Adriatic.

Note: Other options in this setting allow applying the desired colour to just a single object, or just a particular face of one object.
